CES MCCULLY
Australian artist Ces McCully, based in the south of France, works between abstraction and soft, sculptural painting. Her practice centres on two interconnected bodies of work — abstracted soft paintings and the Monstres — each exploring the presence of the body and resisting hyperreal perfection in favour of something slower and more human. Each work begins with hand-tufted fabric embedded directly into the canvas before painting commences, creating surfaces that feel lived-in rather than resolved. By blurring the boundaries between painting and textile, McCully challenges distinctions between image and object, strength and vulnerability. Presented through Three Over Six, McCully’s work speaks to collectors drawn to material-driven practice, tactile surfaces, and a quiet resistance to speed and polish.
